The ruins of St. Hilarion Monastery/Ter Umm Amer, located on the coastal dunes of the city of Nusairat, are one of the oldest monastic sites in the Middle East, dating back to the 4th century.
Founded by St. Hilarion, the monastery began as a solitary hermit and evolved into a communal community.
