From the city, you can also reach the inland mountainous areas rich in nature, including Sun Moon Lake, a popular destination for boating and hiking.
The bustling city center is home to museums, temples, and the ornately decorated brick Taichung train station.
This station was built during the Japanese colonial period (1895-1945).
Other international flights include Vietjet Air to Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Hong Kong Express Airlines to Hong Kong, and international flights to China.
For domestic flights, Mandarin Airlines and UNI Airlines offer services to Penghu, Kinmen, Nangan, and Hualien.

Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR Taichung Station)
It is located a short 30-minute drive from the center of Taichung.
The train connects to the New Wurih Station on the Taichung Line of the Taiwan Railway (National Railways) via a connecting passageway, and the Taichung Station is about 20 minutes away.
All high-transit trains stop there.
Buses are available for Taichung City, Taichung International Airport, Changhua, and Lugang.
traditional railroad line (esp. non-Shinkansen)
The Taiwan Railway is a common train line that has existed for a long time and has lines from Taipei to Kaohsiung, as well as to Hualien and Taitung in eastern Taiwan.
The area around the Taichung Railway Station is also dotted with restaurants, eateries, and hotels where you can dine, making it a very convenient location.
Furthermore, if you want to go sightseeing in Taichung, you can take a cab, of course, but it is also the base point for the city buses, so as long as you know how to ride the city buses, you can go anywhere in Taichung City.
Another important thing to note is that the Taichung Express Bus Terminal is located right next to the Taichung Train Station, making it very convenient to travel by bus from Taichung.
local bus
This includes bus routes 1 through 989 operated by various bus companies.
Currently, there are 275 bus routes covering all districts.
cab
Since the car is the main means of transportation in the city, it is a convenient vehicle for locals and, of course, for tourists.
Some of the drivers speak only a little Japanese.
If you are lucky, you may be able to get a tour of Taichung with a lot of information about the city in Japanese.
rent-a-cycle
A bike rental service called YouBike is offered in Taichung, Taiwan.
Taichung is a popular tourist attraction with a variety of exhibits and shopping facilities, but getting around is basically on foot.
long-haul bus
The Taichung Bus Terminal was built in November 2016.
It is the largest long-distance bus terminal in central Taiwan with more than 20 bus routes.
It is located near the Taichung Railway Station, making it very convenient to transfer to the train.
The Taichung Bus Terminal was originally a dedicated bus terminal for Kuokuang Bus Company, but in 2018 the Taichung City Government ordered other bus companies to be integrated as well, and now long-distance buses from Kuokuang Bus Company, Taichung Bus Company, and Tong Lian Bus Company arrive and depart from the terminal.
