Lotus Lake Lotus Lake Scenic Area

Lotus Lake is a 42-hectare pond located in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan.

Or, the Lotus Lake Scenic Area centered on this pond.

Lotus Lake used to be 72 hectares in size, but was reclaimed for the construction of the Confucius Temple and Huantan Highway, and is now reduced to 42 hectares.

Although Lotus Lake is a little far from the city, it is only about 10 minutes by cab from the Zuoying station of the HSR (High Speed Rail), which costs about NT$150.

However, if you take a cab from the High Speed Rail exit (2, 3, 4, or 5) side, the fare can be more than RMB 200 because it goes around.

The area is dotted with colorful Chinese-style mausoleums and pagodas that encircle approximately 5 km.

It is also noted as a power spot, and many people visit the temple, read fortunes, and take a walk along the lakeside.

If you take a cab and say "to Lotus Lake," you will most likely arrive in front of the Dragon and Tiger Pagoda.

Even if you cannot go around Lotus Lake, "Dragon and Tiger Pagoda" is so famous that it is always guided in tours.

Note that the entrance is on the dragon side!

In Taiwan, it is believed that the best animal = dragon and the worst animal = tiger.

Therefore, it is said that if you enter through the mouth of the dragon and exit through the mouth of the tiger, misfortune will disappear and good fortune will come to you.

The British Consulate Cultural Park is a group of buildings encompassing the former British Consulate in Kaohsiung Harbor, Gushan District, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan, the Consul's residence, and the mountain road connecting the two buildings.

Kaohsiung has several spots from which to view Kaohsiung Harbor, but this is the most famous of them all, and is a popular tourist spot that combines a historical landmark, a viewing platform, and a restaurant.

In 1895, the Treaty of Shimonoseki made Taiwan a territory of Japan, and the consulate and official residence were subsequently placed under the jurisdiction of the Japanese government.

It also has a history of being used as the Kaohsiung Ocean Observatory from 1931.

Later, after it was taken over by the Kuomintang government in 1946, it became the Kaohsiung Observatory of the Central Weather Bureau.

If you take the bus from the front station (front exit) of the Kaohsiung Railway Station, take bus No. 248, get off at Zhongshan University (pedestrian tunnel), and walk along the seaside along Renhai Road. It is about a 10-minute walk.
