What to expect when staying at a hotel in India

1. Tip.

   For mid-range hotels and below, assume that there is basically only a shower.

6. Crime Prevention/Security
   Indian hotels have good security for outsiders.
   The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day, and upscale hotels also conduct body checks at the entrance.
   However, be careful what the staff says and does in inexpensive hotels.
   Women in particular should never allow staff into their rooms.
   Some staff members, upon learning that I am a woman, get involved for reasons such as changing light bulbs.
   Even for staff, the ironclad rule is "if you want to interact, do it in a public place.
   Also, if you leave your suitcase in the room, be sure to lock it properly. It is also safer not to use the safety deposit box.
7. Internet/WiFi
   Hotels in India are also providing Internet access these days.
   Free WiFi is available in many inexpensive hotels, and in high-end hotels, WiFi is available for about 100 rupees (about 150 yen) per hour.
   However, the hotel WiFi is difficult to use.
   The speed is slow and can only be used in shared spaces, which is quite inconvenient.
