Mumbai Overview

Mumbai (formerly Bombay) is a densely populated city on the west coast of India and is the largest city in India, also known as the financial center.

On the waterfront of the Port of Mumbai stands the Gateway of India, built in 1924, which symbolizes the era of the British Indian Empire.

Offshore, Elephanta Island is home to an ancient cave temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

Mumbai is also well known as the center of the Bollywood film industry.
