artificial beach artificial beach

Artificial beaches are what we call "artificial beaches" in Japanese.

Artificial beaches were built because of the disappearance of natural beaches due to the rapid industrialization of Male and other reasons.

On February 7, 2016, a new artificial beach opened in the northwestern direction of Male.

Just across the street is an outdoor sports field, similar to those often seen in Chinese cities, where you can work up a sweat by running or other activities while looking out at the ocean.

It is popular with local young people, families, and other tourists.

In addition to the white sand beach and artificial lagoon, there are five barbecue facilities for picnics with family and friends.

From the hill, you can see boats coming and going, and the sea breeze is pleasant, and it faces the direction of the sunset, making it a great place for a date.

Hukul Miskiy (Grand Friday Mosque) grand friday mosque

Hukurmisky (Friday Mosque) is the oldest mosque in Male. This ancient mosque was built in 1656, in the mid-17th century, during the reign of Sultan Ibrahim Iskander I.

The interior and exterior of this mosque are very intricately carved with decorative patterns and Arabic notations in the script of Islam's holy book, the Koran.

Unfortunately, non-Muslims are not allowed to enter Hukurumi ski resort for sightseeing, so if you wish to visit, you must obtain prior permission from the Maldives Ministry of Tourism or other authorities.

Even if you cannot enter Hukurumiski, it is possible to see it from the outside. The mosque's outer wall, a traditional Maldivian structure built of coral reefs, is a must-see!

Next to Fucurumisky, there are a number of old gravestones, the round curved ones are for men and the pointy ones are for women, giving a sense of the times.

Also, at the entrance to Hukurumisky, there is a floral pathway filled with hibiscus and other colorful flowers for tourists' enjoyment.

Sultan Park Sultan Park

Benches are scattered throughout the Sultan Park, and the grass and plants are lush, making it a good place to rest when you are tired from walking during your sightseeing in Male!

The park is a place of relaxation for local residents, with colorful flowers and a bajrabo tree over 200 years old providing shade.

During the day, migrant workers from Bangladesh and India can be seen taking a break, and people with books from the Maldives National Library next door and after-school students can be seen passing by.

In the evening, Maldivian children dressed up in colorful dresses can be seen taking a walk with their mothers.

While the world's most densely populated capital city, Male, has a hectic pace with motorcycles and cars running along the sidewalks once you step outside, the Sultanate Park is like a green oasis.

The natural breeze blowing through the park and the beauty of hibiscus and other flowers will soothe your body after a long day of walking for sightseeing.

The National Museum is located on the site, and is housed in a sultan's house from the time of the sultan's rule, with exhibits that provide a glimpse into the culture of the Maldives in the past.

Since the Maldives was a Buddhist country before Islam was introduced, relics from the Buddhist period, royal treasures, and old photographs can be seen.

The museum is open every Saturday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Museum admission is US$3 (or RF38 in local currency) and admission to the Sultan Park is free.
