Maldives
Maafushi Island Maafushi Island
Maafushi Island is located in the South Male' Atoll, 35 km south of the airport.
Public ferries (daily except Fridays) and speedboats (daily) operate from the capital, Male, making it a good island for a two-island tour of the resort and local islands.
Many local Maldivians living in the capital also visit Maafushi with their families to refresh themselves on Fridays when the company is closed.
Although not as luxurious as a resort, it offers the same variety of diving and water activities as a resort, but at a lower price than a resort.
There are also Maldivian candy shops on the side of the road, where children and Maldivian adults are choosing sweets and tropical fruits from a rear car, so it is a good way to learn about the local lifestyle.
Numerous resorts are scattered around Mahusi Island, and another advantage of the local island is that visitors can enjoy day trips to nearby resorts.

DIDU Island
Diddhoo Island
Dhidhoo Island is the capital of Haa Alif Atoll, the second largest island in the Maldives from the north.
Approximately 5,000 Maldivians live on the long, narrow island, which is about 2 km long and 0.4 km wide.
For those staying at resorts and guesthouses in Haa Alif Atoll, we recommend this island as a destination for local island tours.
Since it is a larger island in the Maldives, there is much to see and do on foot.
The main street in front of the landing is lined with stores and cafes, and the stores in Dido are well stocked and clean, making shopping a pleasant experience.
When you pass through the middle of the island to the opposite side of the pier, you will reach the beach, which is the most recommended spot.
It has a long white sand beach and a bright blue lagoon (shallow sea) that is as long as a resort island.
The sunset from this beach is a moving sight! Of course, swimming is allowed, but due to Maldivian religious beliefs, women are not allowed to swim in bikinis only.
Since it is the capital island of the atoll, important facilities such as hospitals and banks are available in case of any problems.
On the local islands, which are quite different from the resort islands, you can see and enjoy the real Maldives.

Barefoot Eco Hotel barefoot eco hotel
In the past, resorts on private islands have been the norm in the Maldives, but in recent years guesthouses operating on local islands (where Maldivians live) have become increasingly popular.
In such a situation, there is a hotel that seems to be located between a resort and a guesthouse.
This new hotel concept is the Barefoot Eco Hotel.
It operates on Hanimadhoo Island, which has a domestic airport in the North Maldives' Hadar Atoll.
The reason why it is between a resort and a guesthouse is that it is operated on a local island but offers resort-like facilities and services.
Guesthouses on the local island do not sell alcohol and women cannot swim in bikinis, but this hotel sells alcohol (at the water bar) even though it is on the local island, and since the hotel is located on the edge of the island, you can swim in your bikini at the hotel beach. However, this hotel sells alcohol (at the bar on the water) even though it is located on a local island.
In addition, it offers rooms, restaurants, boutiques, spas, and activities (diving, water sports, snorkeling, yoga, etc.) that are no less than a resort.
Especially popular is the bar on the water.
Not just on the water, but the large pirate ship itself is a bar.
Since it is on the local island, you can go to see the life and culture of the Maldivian people as if you were in a guesthouse.
