Mihintalay මිහින්තලේ
Mihintale is one of the most important sacred places in Sri Lankan Buddhism, where Buddhism was first introduced to Sri Lanka from India.
The Invitation Rock, the place where Mahinda, son of King Asoka of South India, who came from India to propagate Buddhism, met King Dinabampyatissa of Sri Lanka, the king took refuge in Buddhism, and Sri Lanka became a Buddhist country, stands at the beginning.
There are also tours that take visitors to Mihintale, near Anuradhapura.
Those who wish may also climb Invitation Rock.
