The Batukaru Temple is located on the way from the center of Tabanan toward Mount Batukaru, which rises in the northern direction.

After a short walk through a fine black crack gate, you will arrive at a simple parking lot.

The altitude is about 650 meters, so the breezes are cool throughout the year.

Perhaps because the temple is rarely visited by tourists, there are no souvenir shops.

On the moss-covered approach to the temple is a small but mysterious lake.

Mount Agung　 Gunung Agung

At 3,014 meters above sea level, it is the highest mountain in Bali and is conical in shape, similar to Japan's Mt.

In Bali, it has long been believed to be the place where the god of fire resides, and there is a religious feeling that the direction where Mt. Agung is located is the sacred direction.

It is still fresh in our minds that Mt. Agung erupted in 2017, causing tremendous damage due to flight cancellations and other problems caused by the fumes.

Before the eruption, the mountain was open to trekking and climbing, but these activities continue to be prohibited.

Tirtaganga　 Tirta Gangga

It is located in East Bali and was built in 1947 as a weekend retreat for the king at that time.

The name comes from the Ganges River, sacred to the Balinese Hindus.

The spring-fed pool is famous and you can still swim in it (swimsuit required, fee applies).

A large pond with neatly arranged stepping stones has become popular for taking photogenic photos with the fountain in the center.

It takes about 3 hours one way from southern Bali.

Goa Lawah Temple　 Pura Goa Lawah

Goa means "cave" and rawa means "bat," and as the name directly translates to "bat cave," the cave full of dangling bats is indescribably eerie.

There are 11 and 7 tiers of mels in the precinct, and a cave with bats at the far end, but those who are sensitive to smells may frown at the distinctive smell of bats.

The area where tourists can enter is not that large.

Jagannatha Temple　 Pura Jaganata

The temple stands facing the east side of Puputan Square in Denpasar.

It is also unusual for temples to be built in white.

In the center of the temple grounds, a "Padmasana" expressing Balinese Hindu religious philosophy has been erected, and Sanghyangwidhi, the supreme deity of Balinese Hinduism, is enshrined.

What I want to draw your attention to in "Padmasana" is the large tortoise that serves as the foundation, and the dragon that wraps around it.

The turtle represents the earth, and the dragon is wrapped around the turtle to prevent it from moving.

Bajra Sandhi　 Monumen Bajra Sandhi

The Bajra Sandhi Monument, built in 1987, was erected as a monument to the struggle of the Balinese people throughout history.

The location is on the south side of the Bali Provincial Government Building in Denpasar.

It is a beautiful monument, soaring to the heavens in the middle of the square, and the main building, called the Utama Mandala, is three stories high.

On the first floor, the Madyaning Utama Mandala (Madinin Utama Mandala) contains 33 dioramas, similar to the diorama at the National Monument in Jakarta, and focuses on the struggle of the Balinese people.
