Bandung is the capital of Indonesia's West Java Province, a large city surrounded by volcanoes and tea plantations.

It is known for its colonial and art deco architecture and vibrant school town.

Located at 768 meters above sea level, it is relatively comfortable despite its tropical location, and is famous as a summer resort like Karuizawa in Japan.

The Jalan Stiabdi and Jalan Riau neighborhoods in the city's Dago district have countless outlet stores where visitors can shop and buy inexpensive clothing.
