Johor Bahru Overview
Johor Bahru is the capital of the Malaysian state of Johor and is located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula.
Connected to Singapore by a causeway across the Strait of Johor, Johor Bahru is also the gateway to Singapore.
In the coastal area is Istana Besar, a former royal palace built by Sultan Abu Bakar in 1866, now open to the public as the Royal Abu Bakar Museum.
When you cross the Causeway from Singapore into Malaysia, you suddenly realize that you have entered the world of Islam.
Access:Bugis MRT StationFrom the Queen Street Terminal, a 5-minute walk from the JB Express and Causeway Link buses go through the Causeway to Johor Bahru. Get off at the Johor Bahru immigration. The buses run every 15 to 30 minutes between 6:00 and 23:45 daily.
Currency: Malaysian Ringgit.
Visa: Japanese nationals do not need a visa for sightseeing within 90 days.
