Wat Yai Chai Mongkon วัดใหลญ่ชัยมงคล
The temple is said to have been built in 1357 by the first king, U Thong, for monks who had studied in Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) and returned home.

In the 16th and 17th centuries, Ayutthaya attracted merchants from China and neighboring Asian countries as well as European countries such as Portugal, the Netherlands, France, and England.
The King of Ayutthaya gave permission to these foreigners to take up residence and build a town.
One of the towns thus created is Japantown.
The area prospered through the red seal trade, and at its peak, there were about 1,500 Japanese people living there.

A floating market-style theme park opened in 2010.
Along the boardwalk that surrounds the pond are buildings built in the style of traditional Ayutthaya houses, and about 300 stores and restaurants are open for business.
