Yi Dynasty (1392-1910) Korea

  • 1392年 李成桂(女真族ともいわれる)が高麗の恭譲王から王位を簒奪し、高麗王に即位。明より権知高麗国事として認められる。
  • 1393年 李成桂が権知朝鮮国事に冊され、国号が朝鮮となる。明の皇帝から、新たな国号を「朝鮮」と「和寧」の2案から選んでもらうという形式的手順を踏んだ。
  • 1398年 第一次王子の乱
  • 1400年 第二次王子の乱
  • 1404年 室町幕府と国交回復、日朝貿易盛んとなる。
  • 1418年 太宗が譲位して、世宗が即位(〜1450)。
  • 1419年 倭寇征伐を理由として対馬に遠征する(応永の外寇)。
  • 1420年 集賢殿設置。
  • 1432年 四郡六鎮設置。
  • 1443年 訓民正音の制定(1446年公布)。

  • 1545年 仁宗崩御(在位1544年-1545年)。明宗即位。乙巳士禍が起こる。
  • 1555年 己卯倭変(全羅道)。謀備辺司設置。
  • 1559年-1562年 林巨正の乱。
  • 1565年 文定王后死去。尹元衡、鄭蘭貞が自決。
  • 1567年 宣祖即位。勲旧派の終焉。以後、士林派同士の対立が続く。

  • In 1607, an envoy from Joseon arrived in Japan.
  • 1608 Datong Law was implemented in Gyeonggi Province. Thereafter, it was expanded throughout the country over the next 100 years.

  • 1762: King Yeongjo's son Zhuangcheng Seji, who had opposed Lao-lun during his reign, dies of starvation after being locked in a rice chest by royal order due to a conspiracy (hoax) in the political world.
  • 1776 King Jeongjo ascends to the throne (~1800). Establishment of Gyujanggak.
  • 1784 Yi Seung-hun brings in the books of the Tianjing religion.
  • 1791: Xinhai evil prison.
  • 1796 King Jeongjo built Suwon Hwaseong (World Heritage Site). The heyday of the latter half of the Joseon Dynasty.
  • 1801: The Sino-Prussian War (suppression of Catholicism).
  • 1804 Reign of King Junjo, power politics by the Andong Kim clan (- 1863). The end of the Shilin school.
  • 1811 Hongjinglai Rebellion (a revolt against local discrimination).
  • 1816 A British warship stopped by, and the following year crew member Basil Hall and others published a series of voyages to Korea.
  • 1862 Imjin War (1862-1862)
  • 1863: Taejong dies. King Gojong ascends to the throne. Establishment of the Dae-won-gun regime (-1873).
  • 1866 In January, Russian ships appeared and demanded trade; in March, massacre of Christians, including a French bishop (C.I. Church Prison); in August, the General Sherman incident with the U.S.; in October, French forces occupied part of Kangwha Island (C.I. Western Disturbance); in October, the French army occupied a part of Kangwha Island (C.I. Western Disturbance).
  • 1868 Oppert affair (attempted extortion of the Abbot by German merchants).
  • 1871: The Sinmiyang Disturbance; Ganghwado is occupied by a large American expeditionary force of five warships that comes to Korea seeking compensation for the G. Sherman Incident and the opening of its gates.
  • 1872 Korean Famine
  • 1873 King Gojong comes of age, declares pro-regime, and deposes the Daein-guun.
  • 1875 Ganghwado Incident. An incident in which Chosun suddenly opened fire on the Japanese warship Unyang, resulting in an exchange of fire.
  • 1876: Japan and the new Meiji government conclude the Japan-DPRK Amity Treaty.
  • 1882 U.S.-North Korea Treaty of Amity and Commerce. After the failure of the Imjin War Rebellion (Imjin Incident) instigated by Dae-won-gun, the Sino-China Commercial and Land Trade Treaty was concluded with the Qing government.
  • 1883 The first Korean government delegation is sent to the U.S. to establish friendly relations between the U.S. and the DPRK, and the first U.S. minister is stationed in Korea.
  • 1884: The Kashin Incident, a coup d'état by the Kaikaoka faction ends in failure, resulting in the victory of the Jidai faction.
  • 1885 Geomundo Incident. The Russo-Chinese secret agreement incident (the first).
  • 1886 The Second Secret Russo-Chinese Agreement Incident.
  • 1888 Russo-Prussian land trade treaty.
  • 1894: Kabo Peasant War (Donggak Party Rebellion). Conflict between the Dae-won-gun's faction and Min-hyeong's faction deepens. Becomes the main battleground for land battles in the Sino-Japanese War. Kou Reform (~1896).
  • 1895 Treaty of Shimonoseki is concluded. Korea's status as an independent nation is confirmed. Tribute, offerings, and ceremonies from Korea to the Qing dynasty are abolished forever. Empress Myeongseong, who had adopted a pro-Russian and anti-Japanese policy, was assassinated (Otsu-Mi Incident).
  • 1896: Rukan Hangeon. Kojong voluntarily placed under house arrest and administered by the Russian Embassy (~Feb. 20, 1897).
