The Singapore Zoo is located in the Central Gathering Water Nature Reserve in Singapore.
It is often referred to locally as Mandai Zoo.
It boasts an area of 28 hectares, about twice the size of Tokyo's Ueno Zoo, and was built in 1973 at a cost of S$9 million by the Singaporean government.
The zoo is one of the only open system zoos in the world.
There are no cages or fences, allowing visitors to see the animals in a spontaneous manner.

River Safari sprawls over approximately 12 hectares between the zoo and the night safari.
The exhibition space, which reflects the characteristics and cultures of the world's eight major rivers, features a collection of about 5,000 fish and animals of 300 species along a walking path.
Highlights include giant fish, pandas in the Yangtze River area, manatees in the Amazon Flooded Forest, and the "Amazon River Quest" attraction.

Here, visitors can observe the nocturnal life of approximately 2,500 animals of about 137 species.
The animals are different from those in the daytime, and you can feel their wildness.
There are two streetcar routes, one to go around by streetcar and the other on foot. The streetcar is a free English streetcar and a multilingual streetcar that requires a fee and reservations.

Elephant at Work Play Show
The performance will recreate the nature and traditional houses of Myanmar, where elephants are still used for labor, and will show the interaction between elephants and humans and the transportation of timber.

The Kinobori kangaroo became popular when it was introduced in 2016.
Their calm, languid movements and faces are adorable.
